Firelake Debuts Five Star Wars Themed Cocktails in Honor of May the Fourth

For all of you hardcore Star Wars fans out there, the Firelake Restaurants, at both their Downtown and Mall of America locations, are hosting a very special cocktail menu designed to get you out in your finest Jedi robes. Starting on May the Fourth (a notable day for any true Star Wars fan), the two restaurants will serve a special menu consisting of five different fancy cocktails inspired by a galaxy far, far away.

For those who don’t know, May the Fourth is an annual tradition for those who live their lives obsessed with George Lucas’ famed Star Wars movie series. What started out as a riff on the movies famous saying, “May the force be with you,” it’s turned into an annual holiday of sorts where fans across the world celebrate with a variety of different events.

According to MOA Firelake’s General Manager, Jay Rankin, the idea was a joint effort between himself and his staff who all happen to be fans of the film franchise.

Ahead of tomorrow’s event, we were given a little taste test of two of the cocktails. The first, lovingly called, The Death Star, is a mix of Chambord (a raspberry liquor) and blueberry juice, but it’s served with a blue ice sphere made with low-proof Curaçao which gives the ice it’s bright blue hue.

The prize cocktail, however, has got to be the Bantha Milk. For those unfamiliar with Star Wars, the films primary character, Luke Skywalker, is seen drinking a glass of blue milk at the beginning of the first film. The blue milk made another appearance in last years, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. While it’s got the classic look from the film, which might be considered a bit unappealing to non-fans, in reality, it’s basically just a blue White Russian.

As for the rest of the cocktails? Look for drinks like The Dark Side, which features strawberry liquor, triple sec, silver tequila and sour mix, the Jedi which is a concoction of silver tequila, midori, lemon juice, lime juice, and The Force, a combination of Blue Curacao, silver tequila, sour mix, and fresh blueberries all of which are garnished with Star Wars inspired cocktail sticks.

While the restaurants only plan to feature the cocktails for the promotion, encourage loving fans to come in costume should they so desire.

For the record, this isn’t the first time Firelake have run movie-themed cocktail menu like this. During the opening weekend for Fox’s latest X-Men installment, Logan, the restaurant did a special tap takeover where they had local breweries brew specialty beers based on a variety of different comic book characters. They plan on continuing to do this kind of thing into the future, so make sure you keep an eye out for more upcoming events themed around your favorite characters.

If you’re feeling particularly Star Warsy this weekend, get out and give the cocktails a try and remember, May the Fourth be with you!
